Technology Tool(s):
· Internet Access
· The website Virsona
· Some form of word processing program for note taking
Activities/Task:
Students test and check their knowledge of a historical figure by chatting with an artificial intelligence chat bot. They then research another historical figure and use the information they discover to create their own chat bots.
Potential Challenges:
The student may not know how to use the website, so some class time might be used to demonstrate how to use the artificial intelligence chat bot.
Lesson Plan 3:
Scriptwriting With a Wiki
Curriculum Standard:
GRADES 9 - 12
NA-T.9-12.1 Script Writing by Planning and Recording Improvisations Based on Personal Experience and Heritage, Imagination, Literature, and History
Technology Tool(s):
· Computer with internet access
· Access to Wikipedia
· Projector or TV monitor to display teacher’s work
Activities/Task:
Students use a wiki (a website that allows users to add and edit content collectively) to write a one-act play.
Potential Challenges:
Students might not know what a play consists of or how to write a script and make it related to history, therefore a teacher might need to show examples of a one-act play and get them started on how to write a script.
Three Components of Effective Lesson that are appropriate for creativity activities include:
· Demonstration
· Multi-media technology
· Giving feedback
Evaluation of Lesson Plan 1:
This lesson plan would be easy to demonstrate. All the teacher would have to do is create a website on her own to show the class an example. Also, this involves technology, which will grasp the attention of the students better. Finally, this project can be one they work on over the course of a unit, they can add things to their website as they learn more about that topic, and the teacher can give feedback along with their additions.
Evaluation of Lesson Plan 2:
This lesson plan is also easy to demonstrate, in the same way that was mentioned previously. Also, this involves technology and using a website that most students probably have not used which will be new and exciting to them. Finally, after the students present their conversations, the teacher can give feedback on what they could’ve added to make it more specific, or what they could have left out.
Evaluation of Lesson Plan 3:
Instead of a teacher creating an example, this lesson plan can be demonstrated by observing past one-act plays and analyzing already created scripts. This uses technology but not solely, which is good. It gives the student a chance to get their faces from in front of a screen and actually get up and act out their script eventually. Finally, the teacher can give feedback through their final grades.
